Mission San Jose Church Building Fund
Nearly 300 years ago, the original skyline of San Antonio emerged - and among the structures in that skyline was Mission San Jose Church - the “Queen” of the missions.
300 years later Mission San Jose Church remains far beyond the repaired and restored walls; the Church maintains its proud traditions as a living mission, proclaiming spirituality through prayer, study, fellowship and ministry. But this tradition is not limited to those of its faith. Indeed, the Church serves – as it has for hundreds of years – as a guiding beacon for the Southern sector of San Antonio. It serves the community as a point of pride, inspiration and aspiration.
As we enter the heart of the 21st century, Mission San Jose Church endeavors to add to its historic collection of structures, by adding a Pavilion and Community Center to serve the growing needs and demands of the community. Much like our ancestors of 300 years ago who constructed the original mission to serve the same community needs, today’s Mission San Jose Church Community rises to the current day’s occasion.
Currently only two buildings house church ministries, the Mini-center and Parish Hall and both are in very bad shape structurally and aesthetically. To address this crucial issue, a Mission San Jose Building Committee was formed consisting of Parishioners dedicated to resurrecting and restructuring a Master Plan to replace the aging buildings.
Phase I, the Administration Building has been completed. The revised Master Plan includes Phase II for a Pavilion that will replace the Mini-Center and Phase III for a Community Event Center to replace the Parish Hall. The Committee decided to proceed with Phase II, a direction that was realistically attainable and would also meet the immediate needs of the Parish. Accommodations for religious education of children and adults, as well as a facility to support church functions which could generate revenue were considered priority.
Mission San Jose has a three year goal of $1.8 million for 2018. Plans are to begin construction soon after 2018 and have completion of the Pavilion by 2020 which will be the 300 year anniversary of our Mission San Jose Church. The Building Fund will continue on for the Community Center.

For Mission San Jose Parish, raising $1.8 million for a new building extends beyond the resources of our humble community but not beyond the passion that drives our abilities to make this a realistic accomplishment. Your consideration for a contribution towards our goal would be continually appreciated and acknowledged as our Parish community lives on.
